Unique Long Island holiday gifts to ease the stress of shopping

“My siblings and I are definitely Long Island lovers and we love growing up here and having access to all the great things here. I think I definitely show that. It’s like a little vacation town,” Whalen said.

The Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck is selling textiles and these hand-made items as well. Proceeds benefit the arts center.

These items, created by differently-abled members of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE) are on sale at a kiosk at Broadway Commons in Hicksville.

All sorts of fun and colorful socks for kids and adults can be found at, which is also the company that provided socks to former President George H.W. Bush.

“We do carry a lot of books that are not your typical bestsellers but they’re very interesting books. A lot of picture books- a lot of autographed copy books so that’s fun for the holidays,” Turn of The Corkscrew member Carol Hoenig said.
