Commuters frustrated as Hicksville garage overhaul continues

HICKSVILLE – The parking garage at the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road station has been closed since September for a $13M overhaul and is slated to reopen in early 2019, but commuters say they’ve had enough of the congestion and overcrowding its temporary closure has caused.

The structure has faced a slew of problems since 2011, including cracks in the ceiling and leaks from the roofs. Town officials say the needed repairs include replacement of concrete decking, replacement of the carbon monoxide detection system and fire detection infrastructure as well as drainage improvements and more.
