Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that 30 additional subway stations now have wireless voice and data communication capability allowing New York City subway riders to make and receive cell phone calls, send and receive texts and e-mail and access Wi-Fi underground. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) officials were joined by executives from Transit Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Boingo Wireless to demonstrate the new capability at the City’s busiest station, Times Square.

TRENTON, N.J.--New Jersey businesses are encouraged to ensure that their employees who had damages from Superstorm Sandy register for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency by the deadline, May 1, 2013.

Philip Kirschner, president of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, which represents 21,000 companies and employs more than one million workers statewide, said, “We want to get the word out to your employees. That’s why NJBIA joins with FEMA to encourage employers to make sure any of your employees impacted by Sandy register by May 1.”

Nightly travel lanes closures on the Southern State Parkway (SSP) will begin tonight, April 22, 2013 and will continue weekday nights weather permitting, through the end of August. Sections of SSP travel lanes will be closed in the westbound direction for approximately two months followed by the eastbound direction for two months between NY Route 110 (exit 32) in the Town of Babylon and Nassau Road (exit 21) in the Town of Hempstead in Suffolk and Nassau counties.

For the safety of motorists and pedestrians, eastbound Ocean Parkway will be closed to motorists between the Meadowbrook State Parkway (WSP) and Wantagh Parkway (MSP) tomorrow, April 11 and will remain closed until the end of April, weather permitting. Southbound MSP motorists will be detoured to Bay Parkway eastbound to the WSP to Ocean Parkway eastbound. Eastbound Ocean Parkway motorists will be detoured to Bay Parkway and will follow the same detour above back to Ocean Parkway eastbound. Westbound Ocean Parkway motorists are unaffected by this closure.
