Traffic Plans During Construction on Alexander Hamilton Bridge

New Jersey transportation officials today announced that plans are in place to help mitigate potential traffic congestion in connection with an ongoing bridge reconstruction project in New York City.

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is scheduled to implement a new stage of construction on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge (AHB) in Manhattan this weekend, which is expected to affect eastbound motorists at the George Washington Bridge (GWB) in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Press Release: LIRR Performing Construction Work on Long Beach Branch

The MTA Long Island Rail Road is performing grade crossing renewal work on the Atlantic Avenue railroad grade crossing, on the LIRR’s Long Beach Branch in Oceanside. The work will take place over two weekends – October 8 & 9 and October 15 & 16 – and will require the closure of the road and a detour route. On the first weekend the north track will be completed. The second (or south track) will be done on the following weekend.

FiOS1 News would like to correct a story we previously ran on the Mary Brennan Inn. The Inn recently held an open house for people to learn more about the agency and its programs. We incorrectly reported that the shelter was new and opening its doors for the first time. It is the largest soup kitchen on Long Island and offers a wide range of services for families struggling to make ends meet. We apologize for the error and any inconvenience it may have caused.

The following locations in Nassau County will be sprayed for mosquitoes from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. Residents are told to stay indoors and close their doors and windows during the treatment and for 30 minutes after the spraying has finished.
