Schaffer Says LIPA is Aiming to Restore Power to the Area
Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer said storm clean up is continuing and that officials are working with the Long Island Power Authority to restore all electrical power in the area. Schaffer said they estimate that 10,000 customers are still experiencing outages but that it is a significant drop of 70,000 at the height of the storm. He added that they will be more cautious with restoring power to homes South of Montauk Highway, in that if they are still under water, fires may erupt and further destroy the houses.
