MINEOLA — Authorities said they have taken into custody the man who allegedly shot a Nassau police officer and another man in cold blood. Police said 33-year-old Darrell Fuller fatally shot Officer Arthur Lopez Tuesday morning on a ramp to the Cross Island Parkway after the officer stopped the suspect for leaving the scene of a car accident. Fuller then fled the scene and killed Raymond Facey on the Cross Island Parkway, according to investigators. Police said they found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after responding to a report of gunfire.

Fuller, who officials said had already served five years in prison for an attempted murder charge, was transported from Jamaica Hospital to Nassau police headquarters to be formally charged.
