MINEOLA — Robert Core, the former Hempstead public safety officer acquitted of vehicular manslaughter stemming from a 2011 drunk-driving crash that claimed the life of a 50-year-old man, was sentenced Thursday. The judge ordered Core to nine months behind bars, three years of probation and three years with an ignition interlock device. Core is scheduled to serve his sentence next week.
