Police: Suspect a Regular Patron of Church Outreach Program

NORTH MERRICK — A man has been charged with breaking into two buildings at Sacred Heart Church in North Merrick, according to Nassau police. The suspect, 46-year-old Salvatore Buonauro, broke into the Pastoral Center and the Sacred Heart School, police said. Buonauro stole cash and gift cards from the Pastoral Center, officers said. Surveillance footage revealed that Buonauro was a regular patron of the church's outreach program, sources said.
