HEMSPTEAD — Police said a 12-year-old boy was injured as a man attempted to carjack the Ford SUV that the child's mother was siting in. Authorities said Asburn Neysmith, 52, leaped through the vehicle’s back window, landed on a six-year-old child and told the woman that he was taking the car. As a struggled ensued between driver and suspect, the 12-year-old jumped out of the vehicle and tried to escape, but his leg was crushed as Neysmith attempted to drive off, detectives said.
