SHIRLEY — A small plane crashed Sunday morning in Shirley and killed one person, according to Suffolk County police. An unknown number of people suffered burn injuries, sources said. The crash occurred at about 11:55 a.m. near Helene Avenue, police said. Officials did not have information immediately available about the number of people involved in the crash.
Police confirmed that an unknown number of people were taken to a hospital with burns, but sources could not say whether they had been in the plane or on the ground.
