OCEANSIDE – Friends and family are remembering a hometown hero who died last week in Afghanistan. Friday marks the second day of the wake for Lance Cpl. Greg Buckley Jr. and a funeral is planned for Saturday afternoon in Rockville Centre.

"He was a great guy and he's going to remain a hero in this town... in the entire United States. He will never be forgotten, and always remembered" Diarta Tolaj of Oceanside says.

Buckley was shot and killed by an Afghan police officer who opened fire in a gymnasium. He died shortly before a planned surprise visit home to Long Island.
