OCEANSIDE – Family and friends attended a wake Friday for a marine shot and killed last week by an Afghan police officer. Lance Cpl. Greg Buckley Jr. was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.

"My son knew it. In a letter that he wrote home two months ago said it all: he thanked us," Greg Buckley Sr. told FiOS1 News outside Vanella's Funeral Chapel. He says he supports the troops but is against the war.

A funeral mass was held for Buckley at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, followed by a burial at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
