A year into what began as a search for a missing New Jersey escort in Suffolk County ended with the discovery of eleven sets of human remains along Ocean Parkway. Though officials believed they were dealing with a serial killer, it was determined that the cause of death for victim number 11, Shannan Gilbert, was not the result of a homicide. Eventually, officials would rule her death an accidental drowning - a claim her mother, Mari Gilbert, does not believe.
