SEAFORD — Nassau County will have to pay $5 million to the owner of T&T Gunnery on Merrick Road. According to officials, Martin Tretola was wrongfully arrested in 2007 for allegedly operating a gun range near a natural gas line. However, Tretola's lawyer, Steven Harfenist, says that the gas line had been disconnected for decades.

According to Harfenist, the police error cost his client thousands in revenue and shattered his reputation. As a result, Tretola filed a lawsuit in 2008 which was settled yesterday by authorities. Tretola will receive $3 million in compensatory damages and $2 million in punitive damages.
