TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Westchester County officials issued an advisory to stay away from the Hudson River after a sewer pipe burst sent millions of gallons of raw sewage into the water. The incident comes as the New York City Ironman Triathlon is set to take place on Saturday. The 140.6-mile Ironman Triathlon includes a 2.4 mile swim down the Hudson River, ending just north of the George Washington Bridge.Ironman organizers said they conducted water tests to decide whether the pollution could force the cancellation of the event.
