Officials Say Betting Will Compromise Integrity of Sports Games
MEADOWLANDS, N.J. — Professional sports organizations and the NCAA filed a lawsuit against New Jersey in an attempt to prevent the state from legalizing betting on sports. New Jersey was to prepare to file a lawsuit to fight for its right in court after Governor Chris Christie deemed an existing federal ban limiting sports betting to four states as unconstitutional. However, the major organizations that include the NFL, NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball and the NCAA filed the suit in U.S. District Court under the claim that sports betting will compromise the integrity of the game.
