Authorities said Thursday the Massapequa man believed to have drowned in the waters of Jones beach was found alive and about 1,000 miles away in Orange County, Florida. Captain Bruce Marx of New York State Park Police said Raymond Roth's brother contacted a family member Tuesday night, who in turn notified detectives. Roth's son reported the man missing on Saturday and officials immediately launched a frantic search to find him. Days later, police say he his brother confirmed Roth was in good health via telephone. Officials now say they are patiently waiting for Roth to return home and ask him questions about his alleged disappearance.
