Jose Escobar's Infant Daughter Died From Sustained Injuries
RIVERHEAD — Jose Escobar, the 29-year-old accused of a Brentwood DWI crash that killed his baby daughter, was arraigned in criminal court Wednesday. Prosecutors said the Westbury resident was driving with a blood alcohol level of .26, more than three times the legal limit. According to officials, Escobar's vehicle crossed over two traffic lanes, went airborne over a median and crashed into the back of a 7-11 store. Escobar's 10-month-old daughter was declared brain dead and died of her injuries late last week, officials said. His eight-month pregnant girlfriend was seriously injured in the crash, said officials, who added the unborn child was saved by emergency caesarean section operation.
