LOCUST VALLEY — Long Islanders were relieved that Thursday's storms rolled through with much less intensity than originally anticipated. The National Weather Center predicted severe weather, including winds, lightning and hail storms, which caused Governor Cuomo to activate the the State Emergency Operations Center. The storm, however, passed through without causing too much damage.

This latest storm came just days after another one caused severe damage to Morgan Park in Glen Cove and left thousands without power. LIPA officials said the storm caused limited outages this time around and are asking people to report problems by calling 1-800-490-0075 or visiting lipower.org/stormcenter.
