NESCONSET — During Wednesday’s severe weather, lightning touched down just outside the home of race walker and Olympic hopeful Maria Michta. Lightning brought down power lines that fell on the family’s minivan and caused it to burst into flames.

No injuries were reported and the family’s home was not damaged.
