Sources: Legislation Awaiting Governor Cuomo’s Review
NORTH HEMPSTEAD — Recently passed state legislation is aimed at safeguarding swimmers, boaters and fishermen from waste that overflows from sewage plants into waterways. The legislation would require treatment plants and sewer systems to tell state and local officials within two hours of discharging sewage or overflows from sewage and storm water systems. Within four hours, they would have to tell the public through electronic media. FiOS1’s Hanan Kamal reports.
