LONG ISLAND — Increased efforts to catch drunk drivers has seen at least 15 people arrested for driving while intoxicated across Long Island since July 13. A sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station yielded 13 arrests, while a separate incident saw two Suffolk County police officers hospitalized after a drunk driver crashed into their car. New York Knicks guard Jason Kidd was also arrested and charged with DWI after crashing his car into a telephone pole.

FiOS1’s Hanan Kamal spoke to residents who said the punishment for drunk driving should be more severe.
