NEW YORK — New York State Police have issued over 20,000 tickets for texting while driving, a 400 percent increase over the previous year. Suffolk and Nassau police gave out 908 and 505 tickets, respectively, from July 2011 to this year compared to 185 and 162, respectively, from 2010 to 2011.
