RONKONKOMA — Local and state officials joined outside the Federal Aviation Administration offices at MacArthur Airport to urge the FAA to choose Ronkonkoma as the site of the next NextGen air traffic control facility. The FAA currently has facilities in Ronkonkoma and Westbury but the relocation of air traffic operations would force 1,000 high-paying jobs to leave the region. Officials said MacArthur Airport would be an ideal location as it would keep more than 500 jobs in Ronkonkoma and will create new jobs for construction and technology companies.
