COPIAGUE — Suffolk County police are investigating a shooting outside a convenience store on Monday, sources said. Demetrie Breland was outside the Speedy Mart on Great Neck Road around 11 a.m. when a gunman walked up and shot him in the groin, police said. The suspect then fled on foot on Dante Avenue, said police.

Breland, 20, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
