John Capano, 51, Killed in New Year's Eve Robbery
MASSAPEQUA – A flag and monument at a roadway triangle was dedicated to a fallen ATF agent Wednesday at the corner of Biltmore and Franklin Boulevards. John Capano, 51, was off-duty when he and a retired Nassau County police officer attempted to stop a pharmacy robbery on New Year's Eve. Capano, who also served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was fatally shot by the officer.
Capano's widow, Dori, was among those who spoke at the ceremony. "As you go in and out of this neighborhood and you pass this memorial, I hope you will take a moment to think about John Capano," she said.
