Grant Will Cover 75 Percent of Damage, Officials Say
HEMPSTEAD — The town has been awarded more than $2 million in federal grants to cleanup the damage caused by Tropical Storm Irene. Hempstead is still dealing with the issue of debris nearly one year after the storm. The total damage of the storm was estimated at close to $68 million across Long Island.
