HICKSVILLE — Severe thunderstorms struck the island on Monday flooding roads and knocking down trees and power lines. Thousands of customers lost power and the Long Island Power Authority worked through the morning to restore it. Electricity returned to many homes in the afternoon. FiOS1’s Carolyn Fortino reports.
