Attendees Celebrate End of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
NEW YORK CITY — New York City held its 42nd annual Gay Pride Parade on Sunday, celebrating a eventful year for LGBT rights. For the first time in the event's history, gay members of the military could express themselves without worrying about violating the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that was officially repealed in 2011. The parade also marked the one-year anniversary of the legalization of gay marriage in New York State.
The parade's Grand Marshal was singer Cyndi Lauper.
