Economy, Limited Budgets Affect School Building and Renovation Plans
ISLANDIA — The summer season is usually the time when schools on Long Island receive repairs and renovations. However, construction companies say projects have dropped significantly over the years because of the economy and because of limited school budgets. While the work at schools is down, BBS Architects, Landscape Architects and Engineers Principal Architect Roger Smith, and Stalco chief estimator Scott Pavick say they have seen an increase of projects at colleges. Additionally, both companies are currently working on school construction projects being paid for with bonds.
