Residents Head to Pools, Cooling Centers to Beat the Heat

LEVITTOWN — Wednesday marked the official start of summer and residents made their way to pools to find relief from the 90-plus degree heat. As temperatures climbed throughout the day, Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray encouraged seniors that did not have air conditioning to head to any of the 16 cooling centers that opened to accommodate them.
