Cooling Centers and Pools in New Jersey

ESSEX COUNTY COOLING CENTERS
The Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange will be open as an Essex County public cooling station. The arena will be open today from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and tomorrow and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The center is located at 560 Northfield Ave. in West Orange.
In addition, local municipalities have set up centers or have recommended public facilities where citizens can go to get respite from the heat.
BELLEVILLE
• Belleville Senior Citizens building, 125 Franklin Ave., today from noon to 11 p.m.
BLOOMFIELD
• Civic Center, 84 Broad St., open continuously through 6 p.m. tomorrow
EAST ORANGE
• East Orange Pubic Library, 21 South Arlington Ave., (973) 266-5600, during normal business hours.
NEWARK

MIDDLESEX COUNTY
All 25 municipalities in Middlesex County are offering cool places for people to go should they need relief from the heat. County residents are advised to call their local municipality to find out what resources are available in their communities. Specific cooling centers have been reported by the following municipalities:

In Edison, for immediate relief from the heat, residents are welcome to visit any municipal building during regular hours. Residents can also seek relief at:

Woodbridge residents should contact individual facilities for hours of operation. No one will be turned away from a cooling center, but seniors are especially at risk.
If necessary, the township can provide transportation to a cooling center. Officials said the township will deliver fans to senior citizens or disabled residents unable to leave their homes.
