New 1-Acre Warehouse Capable of Holding 1.2 Million Pounds of Food
HAUPPAUGE – Island Harvest, the largest food bank on Long Island, unveiled its newest food distribution center on Tuesday. The new warehouse covers one acre and is capable of holding 1.2 million pounds of food. The group works with a network of more than 570 hunger relief organizations and will be able to fill 29 tractor trailers at a time to deliver food to residents in need. CEO Randi Shubin Dresner said the new facility will make it possible for Island Harvest to better and continuously distribute food out to the communities on the island.
