EAST ISLIP — A high school student who was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis last week has died. According to the Health Department, the teen was hospitalized and receiving treatment for the infection — which can be treated with antibiotics but passed away Friday night. Grief counselors will be available at the high school throughout the day.
