HUNTINGTON — An elderly woman is recovering at a hospital after a police officer saved her from a fire. Officials say officer Joseph Lanzisera responded to an emergency call about a fire in a home on Nathan Hale Drive. Upon arrival, the officer broke a window to investigate inside the smoke-filled home and noticed an 84-year-old disabled woman unconscious on the floor. With the help of Fire Chief Kenneth Cochrane, officer Lanzisera carried the woman to safety. Both the officer and the woman were transported to Huntington were she is now recovering from second degree burns to her face.
