A group of volunteers are digging up dirt and earning their green thumbs at Queensbridge Park in Long Island City in an effort to make New York City more environmentally friendly. Transforming open space into greener space has been the main focus of The New York Restoration Project organization since 1995. This year they've partnered up with JetBlue for the Million Trees NYC initiative, which aims to plant and care for one million trees in all five boroughs by 2017.
