Police have cleared out the scene of a fatal crash in Central Islip after a vehicle and an LIRR train collided during the morning commute. MTA officials say the train, which left Penn Station at 3:15 a.m., was heading to the Ronkonkoma station when it struck a vehicle just two stops before reaching its final destination. Officials said one person in the vehicle was killed on impact and the car was damaged beyond recognition. None of the 31 passengers on the train were injured and were transferred by bus to their final stop. Officials said the accident caused damage to the rails.
