HEMPSTEAD — Town Supervisor Kate Murray celebrated the addition of wind power to the town’s energy park on Wednesday. The electricity being generated by the wind turbines is being used to power Long Island’s only hydrogen fueling station, also located in the energy park. The turbine was installed in December and has generated 125,000 kilowatts of power in just five months.

The turbine, which cost roughly $615,000 dollars, was paid for with a Department of Energy grant at no cost to taxpayers.
