Sources Say Parents Missed Time Limit to Appeal to Vatican
An attempt to reverse the Diocese of Rockville Centre's decision to close six Long Island Catholic schools has reportedly failed. According to Newsday, the attempt was unsuccessful because parents missed a 10-day window to file the appeal to the Vatican. Sources said parents stated that the Diocese never informed them of the process. A Diocese spokesperson said education officials met with parents in December 2011 and gave them an opportunity to make their case to keep the schools open.
