Farmingdale State College Administrator Struggled to Succeed
FARMINGDALE — In an inspiring story of achievement, a local woman overcame the struggles many immigrants face and became a successful university administrator. Dr. Veronica Henry came to Long Island from Jamaica in 1968 at the age of 23. Getting an education was not only important to her, it was necessary. As the sole provider for her two children, she managed to work full-time, attend school full-time and be a mother. Despite the challenges she faced at such an early age, Dr. Henry managed to complete a Ph.D. Now in her mid-60s, Dr. Henry's experience in life and her dedication to education helped her become one of our local heroes.
