EAST ISLIP — A small plane had to make an emergency landing at Heckscher State Park after experiencing engine failure. The plane, flying from North Carolina, was piloted by David Jensen and a student pilot. The plane took off around noon with no sign of problems, but was forced to land at around 3:45 p.m. at field nine, which is used as a model airplane strip.
