MANORVILLE –– A day after the brush fires that burned over 1,100 acres were declared contained, residents are beginning to assess the damage done to their homes. Firefighters across the island received high praise for their efforts in containing the fire, which ranks among the largest in New York's history. Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in Suffolk County, giving the county more resources it needs to recover.
