Weather permitting, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of the following communities as part of its ongoing annual effort to control the mosquito population.
The following treatments are for Vector Control:

Approximate location(s): Davis Park and Point OWoods on Fire Island.
Sites to be treated: All streets in the villages.
Method of Treatment: Ground spraying ultra-low-volume aerosol
Name of Pesticide: Anvil (sumithrin)
Based on the current mosquito trap data and consistent with the 2012 Nassau County Mosquito Control Plan, the Nassau County Departments of Health and Public Works have recommended that localized truck treatment of adulticide continue at targeted areas in the County. This recommendation is based on the persistent presence of West Nile virus and mosquito activity at these locations.
