New MTA Subway Time App Released

The MTA has announced the launch of a new, free iPhone app which provides real-time train arrival information for selected stations and lines. Subway riders will have access to the information on in-station countdown clocks that provide arrival estimates in minutes for upcoming trains, while on the go.

Inclement Weather Delays Flights at Area Airports

As of approximately 11:30 a.m., the following delays are being reported at area airports:

  • Departure traffic to La Guardia Airport is currently experiencing delays averaging 1 hour and 13 minutes
  • JFK Airport is experiencing 15 minutes delays on departures and arrivals
  • Departure traffic to Newark International Airport is currently experiencing delays averaging 1 hour and 25 minutes
  • Departure traffic to Philadelphia International Airport is currently experiencing delays averaging 22 minutes

Buses To Replace LIRR Trains

Official release from New Jersey Transit:

Route 495 eastbound to close in Weehawken for overnight construction starting August 6

NEWARK, NJ - Beginning on or about Monday night, August 6 and continuing through late-Fall of 2013, Route 495 eastbound will be closed at Pleasant Avenue in Weehawken for overnight repairs. Additionally, one lane on Route 495 westbound along the helix will close to support the eastbound construction.

“State of the Subways” Report Card

The NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign today issued its fifteenth annual “State of the Subways” Report Card, rating the Q as the best of 20 subway lines with a “MetroCard Rating” of $1.60 and the C the worst with a MetroCard rating of 85 cents. The ratings were based on official MTA New York City Transit data.

The Q was rated the best line for the first time since 2001.

The C has been rated worst six times in the fifteen years that the Straphangers Campaign has been issuing report cards. The C came in last in 2001, 2007, and 2009 through 2012.

Buses Replace Midday LIRR on Eastern Portion of Montauk Branch on March 13 and 14

The Long Island Rail Road will provide bus service in place of midday trains on the Montauk Branch east of Patchogue on Tuesday, March 13, and east of Speonk on Wednesday, March 14, as track inspections are performed.

March 13 – East of Patchogue
Customers on three eastbound and three westbound midday trains between Patchogue and Montauk will be provided substitute bus service on March 13 during the midday rail testing as follows:
