NFL and NFLRA officials released a joint statement Thursday morning announcing that they have come to an agreement with the referees' union following Monday's controversial call during the Packers-Seahawks game.
Team owners ended a three-month lockout of the officials and will allow their return for Thursday night's game between the Ravens and Browns at M&T Bank Stadium.
For the second time Wednesday, the Denver Broncos have agreed to trade quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets. Denver will send Tebow and a 2012 seventh-round draft pick to the Jets, and receive a fourth and sixth-round pick in this April's draft. The deal had been halted earlier due to a $5 million salary advance owed to Tebow, however the Jets have agreed to pay half of the amount to Denver as compensation.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Joe Paterno, the fired Penn State coach who won more games than anyone in major college football, died Sunday. He was 85. Paterno was fired in November last year amid a child sex abuse scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. Paterno's family released a statement Sunday morning to announce his death: "His loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled."
Football fans can take the train right to the new station near from MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands, home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets. All LIRR and Metro North lines and branches can get people to and from the game with one train ticket. On Metro North’s New Haven line, the Penn Station through-service will take people to the game with fewer transfers.
