After a MRI, the New York Mets announced that star pitcher Johan Santana has a probable re-tear of his anterior capsule in his pitching shoulder. The injury may be season and career ending for Santana. Mets officials have said that surgery on the injured arm is "a strong possibility."

Santana suffered a similar injury to his pitching shoulder in 2010 that forced him to miss the entire 2011 season.
