For the 2nd time this season, the Pleasantville Panthers (11-0-1) beat the rival Briarcliff Bears (5-6-2), staying undefeated with a 2-1 win at home in Pleasantville. After a very quiet 1st half, the game opened up in the 2nd half, and Pleasantville finally broke through in the 61st minute, as a long Analese Picart free kick found star midfielder Allison Portera, whose jumping half-volley found the net. Ten minutes later, the Panthers sealed the win thanks to the hard work of Amber Nanaj, who got the ball to Isabelle Kapoor for an easy tally. The Bears earned a Kaitlyn Ryan goal off a corner kick with under 5 minutes left, but they couldn’t find an equalizer. Briarcliff’s next game is at home against Croton-Harmon on Saturday, while Pleasantville travels to Westlake on Friday.
