Just two days after the Montclair Mounties beat the Livingston Lancers in penalty kicks to win the Essex County championship, the Lancers (12-2-2) and Mounties (14-0-2) played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Montclair, keeping Montclair undefeated and giving them the Super Essex Conference – American Division outright title. Livingston had the quality shots early, including a Lauren Belcuore strike off the crossbar, and Avery Conklin finally broke through 47 seconds before halftime with a perfectly-placed, looping ball from a tough angle. Montclair finally got good opportunities in the final 10 minutes of the 2nd half, and a long shot by Sonia Neighbors found the back of the net with under 4 minutes left to send the game to OT. Livingston had better chances in the final 20 minutes, and Jadyn Liebman hit another crossbar, but Montclair backup goalie Molly Brumbach made huge saves to preserve the draw. Livingston’s regular season finale is at home against Verona on Wednesday, the same day Montclair hosts Millburn.
