2 dead after SUV plunges into Long Island Sound

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Two people were killed when an SUV plunged into the waters of Long Island Sound after crashing through a railing at a Westchester County park.

It happened just before 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hudson River Park in New Rochelle.

New Rochelle Police Commissioner Joseph Schaller says the driver suffered a medical episode just before the crash.

The driver was pulled from the vehicle and rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The second victim was found dead inside the submerged vehicle.

Police say there was zero visibility in the murky water.
